The Philanthropist’s Folly® created by Jacinta Belai, is a bespoke advisory service that embraces the joy of giving using impactful tools and guidance that lead to meaningful results.
My mission is to enable donors take an informed, considered approach to giving that is effective, impactful and fulfilling.
Support
As a philanthropy advisor, my role is to support and enhance your giving and the relationship professional wealth advisers hold with you. This can be achieved through developing a deep understanding of your values and motivation, by providing key relevant information and guidance, and establishing a detailed roadmap for realising your philanthropic ambitions.
Taking a considered and strategic approach to philanthropy is underpinned by following a detailed roadmap that will help to:
- Identify motivation, vision and values that together form the personal drivers of change
- Understand, develop and implement your philanthropic goals and strategies
- Identify opportunities for impact in specific areas of interest·
- Connect with a diverse global network of philanthropic and issue experts
- Make the best use of funds with better decision-making rooted in aligning values with action that challenge thinking and support the call to action
- And where desired, engage next-generation family members recognising that decisions made today determine the legacy for generations to come.
ABOUT
With a joint degree in Business & Economics, I spent my early career working internationally in the corporate sector (IT, private banking and finance) predominately on the relationship management side.
I subsequently trained as an executive coach where I managed my own coaching practice and championed the work of social entrepreneurs. This led me to further study, culminating in an MSc in Grantmaking, Philanthropy & Social Investment.
I have spent over ten years as a charity consultant undertaking research and providing advice to foundations and umbrella bodies on issues including impact, systems change and strategic philanthropy.
As a trustee director of a large grantmaking UK-wide charity and chair of its grants sub-committee, I am pertinently aware of the widespread levels of need and the ensuing challenge of how to direct limited resources in a way that is effective and impactful.
Having grown up in Ireland and lived in Asia, Europe and the U.S., I now live in London with my husband and daughter.
